Ewing Family
Association

Audaciter!

Membership in the Ewing Family Association is open to all persons with the surname of Ewing or who are descended from anyone with that surname; to anyone who is, or has been, the spouse of such a person; and to anyone who otherwise supports the Association's purposes.

Benefits of Membership

Participation: Members are encouraged to attend biennial Gatherings at historically significant locations around the United States.  We expect to have a presence at Scottish heritage events, such as Highland games, where we expect to represent and support Clan Ewing.  Members are invited to attend EFA meetings to help plan and vote on new initiatives. Members are welcome to participate in our online discussion forum and on our Facebook page.

Journal: Membership in the Ewing Family Association includes a subscription to its Journal, a quarterly publication providing material of interest to people having a Ewing heritage or an interest in the Association's activities. Members may elect to receive electronic (PDF) versions of the Journal rather than printed versions; electronic versions are delivered more quickly and are in color.

Individuals considering membership should consult the online copies of Past Issues of the Journal, noting that online copies are available only for very early volumes, currently up through Volume Six which was published in 2000. A better sense of what the Journal offers can be gained by requesting a complimentary copy of the latest issue from This email address is being protected from spambots. Membership List: Members of the Ewing Family Association may, once per calendar year, obtain a copy of the current Membership List at no charge by sending a request to This email address is being protected from spambots. Individual Memberships

See the How to Join or Renew page. Dues are $35 per year.

Individuals may join at any time during a calendar year. Those who join prior to the end of July will be considered members for the current calendar year and will receive all of the issues of the Journal for the current calendar year. Those who join after the end of July but before the end of October will be considered as members for the following calendar year and will, as a courtesy, receive a copy of the current year's November issue of the Journal. Those who join after the end of October will be considered as members for the following calendar year.

Library/Institutional Memberships

Library Memberships are available at $20 per calendar year. Members may sponsor Libraries Memberships by submitting a Regular Membership Form identifying the libraries.

Libraries or other institutions may directly join and will receive all issues of the Journal for the calendar year in which they join. If they join after the end of October, they will be considered as members for the following year but receive all issues of the Journal. To join, they should complete a Membership Form indicating the information for a contact person.

Membership Renewals

Renewal Reminders are sent in mid-October and should be returned, with payment, by the end of the year. See the How to Join or Renew page to renew on-line.

Members not renewing by the beginning of March in the next calendar year will be considered "delinquent" and dropped from the roll of active members. If delinquent members later pay their dues, they will be reinstated and receive copies of the Journal issues published during the calendar year in which they become reinstated.

Renewal Reminders will identify the member's Gift Memberships and any Library Memberships they are sponsoring. The recipients of Gift Memberships and sponsored Library Memberships will not be sent Renewal Reminders; it is up to the gifting/sponsoring Regular Member to renew these memberships.

Donations

The Association welcomes additional contributions to help support its activities and projects. Unrestricted contributions are preferred, but you may restrict your donation to be used for specific activities, for example to pay for Y-DNA testing of those who cannot pay the test fee themselves or to support other specific projects or activities.

Contributions can be made through the EFA home page or during the online membership application / renewal process. Such funds are credited to our General Operating Fund. If you want a donation to be credited to a specific activity, you will need to send email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Of course, contributions may be sent by US Mail to the EFA Treasurer (see address at bottom of EFA home page) accompanied by a cover letter indicating any restrictions on the use of the contribution.

Tax Status

The Ewing Family Association is a 501(c)(3) Public Charity.  In exchange for your dues you have received a subscription to the Ewing Family Journal with an estimated value of $20 per year.  Therefore, you may be eligible for a $5 tax deduction with payment of your annual dues.  Library sponsorships, gift memberships, and special donations may be tax deductible as well.  Thank you for your support!
