Welcome to the new web site for the Ewing Family Association! We hope to provide you and the world with the best collection of news and research results relating to the greater Ewing Family. We hope you will find new insights and perhaps a little fun relating to the Association's work of bringing together our "tribe". We are and hope to be a diverse surname-based group, including people with all variant spellings of the name and all national, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Why a new site? The first EFA web site came on line more than 10 years ago. (Then we were known as Clan Ewing in America.) For the last 6 years, with intelligence, wit, and great dedication, our former webmaster William Ewing Riddle developed the site in parallel with his stewardship as Editor of the Ewing Family Journal (formerly, Journal of Clan Ewing in America). Ten years on the web is a long time -- several generations of software and hardware technology. So it was time for a "refresh".
Not so much in the "look and feel" (although that is a challenge), but at the nuts and bolts level. We discovered that if we wanted to transfer the reins to anyone other than Bill Riddle, we would need to move to more easily supported and standardized software.
So here we are. The conversion from old to new is an on-going process. If you explore our site for long, you will find pages that still come from the old system. We will be converting more and more over the coming months.
