Ewing Family Association
Membership

Membership in the Ewing Family Association is open to all persons with the surname of Ewing or who are descended from anyone with that surname; to anyone who is, or has been, the spouse of such a person; and to anyone who otherwise supports the Association's purposes.

Levels, Dues and Benefits

    Regular: individuals
Library: organizations offering access to genealogical resources
Trial: half-year memberships convertible to Regular Memberships

Dues: The calendar-year dues are $25 for Regular Memberships, $20 for Library Memberships and $10 for Trial Memberships. Payment must be in US Dollars. Credit cards are not accepted.

Journal: Membership in the Ewing Family Association includes a subscription to its Journal, a quarterly publication providing material of interest to people having a Ewing heritage or an interest in the Association's activities. Members may elect to receive electronic (PDF) versions of the Journal rather than printed versions; electronic versions are in color whereas printed versions are in black-and-white (grayscale).

Individuals/Libraries considering membership should consult the online copies of Past Issues of the Journal, noting that online copies are available only for very early volumes, currently up through Volume Six which was published in 2000. A better sense of what the Journal offers might be gained by requesting an electronic (PDF) copy of the latest issue from the Journal Editor, William Ewing Riddle (Riddle at WmERiddle dot com).

Membership List: Members of the Ewing Family Association may, once per calendar year, obtain a copy of the Membership List at no charge by sending a request to the Membership Coordinator, Jill Ewing Spitler (JEwingSpit at aol dot com). The Association Membership List is provided only for personal use[*].

Queries: Questions about membership (terms, benefits, etc.) should be directed to the Membership Coordinator, Jill Ewing Spitler (JEwingSpit at aol dot com).

Regular Memberships

Completed Membership Forms should be sent to the Ewing Family Treasurer accompanied by a check for the $25 calendar-year dues.

Individuals may join at any time during a calendar year. They will receive all of the issues of the Journal for the calendar year during which they join.

Library Memberships

Library Memberships are available at $20 per calendar year and may be arranged by sending a Regular Membership Form identifying the libraries to the Ewing Family Treasurer accompanied by a check for the $20/library calendar-year dues.

Libraries may join at any time during a calendar year. They will receive all of the issues of the Journal for the calendar year during which they join.

Trial Memberships

Members may provide Trial Memberships to their family, friends and colleagues. The intent is to provide a way to familiarize others with the Association and its activities. Trial Members receive two consecutive issues of the Journal and are then invited to become Regular Members. Trial Members who decide to become Regular Members will receive all issues of the Journal for the calendar year(s) in which they were Trial Members.

Trial Memberships may be arranged by sending a Trial Membership Form to the Ewing Family Treasurer accompanied by a check for the $10 trial-membership dues.

Gift Memberships

Members of the Ewing Family Association may provide Gift Memberships to family, friends and colleagues. Gift Memberships may be arranged by sending a Gift Membership Form to the Ewing Family Treasurer.

Membership Renewals

Renewal Reminders are sent in mid-October and should be returned, with payment, by the end of the year. Members not renewing by the beginning of March in the next calendar year will be considered "delinquent" and dropped from the roll of active members. If delinquent members later pay their dues, they will be reinstated and receive copies of the Journal issues published during the calendar year in which they become reinstated.

Renewal Reminders will identify the member's Gift Memberships and any Library Memberships they are sponsoring. The recipients of Gift Memberships and sponsored Library Memberships will not be sent Renewal Reminders; it is up to the gifting/sponsoring Regular Member to renew these memberships.

Contributions

The Association welcomes additional contributions to help support its activities and projects. Unrestricted contributions are preferred, but you may restrict your donation to be used for specific activities, for example to pay for Y-DNA testing of those who cannot pay the test fee (currently $189) themselves.

Ewing Family Association has established a special, two-year Fund-raising Drive with the objective of raising $4,000 by the end of 2007 and an overall $8,000 by the end of 2008. The end-of-2007 goal was met, primarily because a member offered to match–dollar for dollar–$1,000 of contributions made by others during 2007. Several contributions to the additional $4,000 for 2008 have been made. Please add your contribution to the 2008 goal.

Contributions should be sent to the Ewing Family Treasurer accompanied by a cover letter indicating any restrictions on the use of the contribution. Please note that contributions to the Association are not tax-deductible.

*   The Membership List is provided to help members identify and contact others in support of their genealogical research. The Membership List may not be used for commercial purposes. This is not, however, intended to prohibit use of the list for educational or non-profit activities, where "non-profit" means activities for which expenses exceed income. Queries and questions about the proper use of the Membership List should be sent to the Membership Coordinator, Jill Ewing Spitler (JEwingSpit at aol dot com). [
